Introduction.
In the last days, when Satan knows time is short, he will use all the aids he has in the fight against God’s faithful people. Admittedly, Satan began his seductions already in the Garden of Eden, and through his lies caused Adam and Eve to break God’s commandments. Ever since this event, Satan has enticed and deceived, tempted and challenged God’s people in every conceivable way to make them fall away from the faith and God.
In Matthew chapter 24, Jesus comes to us with a clear warning in verse 4, which He repeats three times in the same chapter, in verses 5, 11 and 24. Here Jesus says:
Verse 4: And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Verse 5: For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Verse 11: And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Verse 24: For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Seduction, as has been said, has always been part of Satan’s means to lead people away from God. In the book Early Writings, under the heading Mysterious rapping, Ellen G. White says that she got a vision regarding such rapping phenomena on August 24, 1950, and that it was Satan who was behind it. This is part of the spiritualism that nowadays flows into almost all churches and denominations. However, seduction gained momentum at the turn of the year 1900/1901, when a modern form of speaking in tongues was introduced on January 1, at Bethel College in Kansas, USA. They claimed that this was the form of tongues that the Bible refers to i.a. in 1 Corinthians 12,1-11, where Paul discusses the gifts of the spirit. Bethel College has been credited with starting the Pentecostal movement. Since then, there has been inflation in seduction, and our enemy uses all sorts of dirty tricks to make us fall.
We will now go through some points that will constitute some of the deceptions that Satan will take advantage of in the last days. But first I want to refer to the apostle of love, John, who writes something important in 1 John 4,1. We should all consider this: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
The false tongue.
The false tongue and noisy exercises have long been considered gifts that God has placed in the church. The only problem is that they have not been practiced from the time of the early church, while Jesus’ disciples lived, and until the turn of the year 1900/1901. If this type of tongues really is one of the gifts of the Spirit, and at the same time the most important gift, where was it before it appeared at Bethel College in Kansas over 120 years ago? Here, at this school, some students began to make inexplicable and incomprehensible noises when Pastor Charles Parham laid his hands on them. Today, more than 300 million people ‘speak in tongues’. One of the great paradoxes of this gift of the Spirit is that the one who receives this gift has this gift throughout his life, even if he is no longer a Christian. If this kind of tongues were the gift of the Holy Ghost, it would no longer be found in an apostate, for the gifts of the Spirit are given as an help in the Christian life, not for those who are not Christians.
This alleged ‘gift of the spirit’ has, as we understand it, no preference for the recipient’s beliefs, teachings, ideology or life. Various forms of Christianity, including pure paganism and occultism, do not prevent this gift from being given. If this ‘gift’ is a proof of ‘spiritual baptism’, as the Pentecostals themselves claim, and this gift is given to people, who also get to keep this gift, which has no personal relationship with the God of the Bible and the Holy Spirit, many should stop and think about. Could it be that the God of heaven gives the gift of the Holy Ghost to those who despise Him? Here some have been thoroughly deceived, because before this form appeared in Kansas, USA, the same phenomenon had been well known and practiced for centuries in certain African tribal religions, during obsessions, in trance states, in oriental initiation rituals and from several occult sects in Brazil. It is also known before antiquity, and then through the oracle of Delphi, which was known already more than 1000 years BC perhaps even before 1400 BC. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythia).
The following are taken from https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tungetale Religious tongues are associated with obsession (religious trance) and prophetic rapture where a deity speaks through a chosen person, often to make predictions and warnings. According to Pentecostals, Agnes Ozman (1870-1937), an American Methodist and Bible school student, is the first to speak in tongues when she was inspired by the spirit at Bethel College in Topeka, Kansas on January 1, 1901. However, the same phenomenon is known from several religious contexts, both among the close forerunners of the holiness movement, in certain African tribal religions, in oriental initiation rituals and from several occult sects in Brazil. Pythia at the Apollo oracle in Delphi also made predictions during a trance which were then interpreted by priests.
The fruits of all this have not been good. Jesus says in Matthew 7,15-20 that false prophets are to be known by their fruits. Fanaticism and noise have been considered as special evidence of faith in many different congregations and especially in Pentecostal-charismatic congregations. Some people are not happy with an encounter unless they have had a strong spiritual encounter with ‘the spirit’. They work to achieve this and they feel an intoxicating feeling. They experience spastic twitching in the body, they have fits of laughter, and they fall over when ‘the spirit’ touches them. But the influence of such meetings is not favourable. When the happy emotions is gone, they sink lower than before the meeting because their happiness did not come from the right source. In pagan, occult and spiritualist movements, the fruits are far more dangerous. In the worst case, it ends with ritual killings.
Ellen G. White says in Testimonios for the Churh 1,412 the following: Some of these persons have exercises which they call gifts and say that the Lord has placed them in the church. They have an unmeaning gibberish which they call the unknown tongue, which is unknown not only by man but by the Lord and all heaven. Such gifts are manufactured by men and women, aided by the great deceiver. Fanaticism, false excitement, false talking in tongues, and noisy exercises have been considered gifts which God has placed in the church.
The most profitable meetings for spiritual advancement are those which are characterized with solemnity and deep searching of heart; each seeking to know himself, and earnestly, and in deep humility, seeking to learn of Christ.
Lying spirits contradict scripture
Ellen G. White says in Early Writings, under the heading An explanation the following: “The saints must get a thorough understanding of present truth, which they will be obliged to maintain from the Scriptures. They must understand the state of the dead, for the spirits of devils will yet appear to them, professing to be beloved friends and relatives, who will declare to them that the Sabbath has been changed, also other unscriptural doctrines.”
In 1 John 2,3-5 we read the following: And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
There are forces in the world that have changed much in the Word of God. Everything from innocent things like replacing the original word with a more modern and easy-to-understand word – which may not mean exactly the same thing, to changing God’s commandments. The Bible is very clear that the people who change the Word of God are called liars because the truth is not in them. Yet they walk around as if nothing had happened, as if it is the most natural thing in the world to change the Word of God. The Spirit of Prophecy says something about this in the book The Great Controversy. There she writes that the fallen angels, Satan’s helpers, will personify themselves as Jesus’ apostles, they will appear to people and contradict what they were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write while they lived. In this way, ‘the apostles’ will deny the divine origin of the Bible.
Another lie put forward by these lying satanic spirits is that man has an immortal soul. Many grieving people have been ‘comforted’ by such ‘revelations’ made by the fallen angels who have the ability to present themselves identically to the deceased they personify. When my father passed away, my mother mourned for months the loss of her husband. I must add that none of them was believers. One afternoon when she was sitting by the window, as she always did when she was waiting for him to come home from work, she was in despair, because she did not know what it was like with my father. Suddenly she saw ‘his’ face in the hedge by the walkway into the house, and ‘he’ told her he was fine. This is one of the great lies that we will see more and more of in the short time that remains before the Savior returns to deliver His faithful people. This form of deception lays the foundation for spiritualism and leads straight to Rome
We also know that people will stand up and pretend to be Christ. This is also a phenomenon that will only increase in scope in the time to come, and there are more and more people who call themselves the Messiah, and who have large followers. We can perhaps call it a perpetual fulfilment right from the time of Jesus, up through the Middle Ages and into our time. My wife got a flyer outside a shopping centre in Oslo in the fall of 2019. This flyer proclaims that, Mirza Ghulam Ahmed is the promised messiah. It is precisely such false prophets and messiahs that Jesus warns us against in Matthew chapter 24. To justify his claim to be the Messiah, reference is made to Daniel 8,13-14; Matthew 24,43-44 and to the Qur’an Al-Saff 7, (Al-Saff is chapter 61). Soon these will be given the power to perform various miracles on behalf of the devil, and they will soon perform real miracles, healings and the like, some have already begun to perform such miracles. They appear in a supernatural way, they can levitate and otherwise do wonderful things.
True levitation involves the apparent abolition of gravity without the use of physical energy. The phenomenon is described in pagan religions, parapsychology, spiritualism and magic. Most religions refer to levitation as a common ability of ‘holy women and men’. This includes, for example, fakirs and people in transcendental meditation. Levitation is also said to occur in spiritualism. The Scottish spiritualist medium Daniel Dunglas Home (1833–1886) became especially known for being able to levitate (soar).
When such people with special equipment from Satan in the end times come with testimonies that contradict the Bible, many people will devour both bait, hook, sinker and line. But God’s faithful people will not be deceived because they stand on the Rock and on the Word of God and this alone. They will see that the doctrine of the false Christs is not in accordance with Scripture.
Music will be a trap
The Bible is a wonderful book in every way. It tells us in an amazing way what will happen in the future by telling us what happened in the past. This is called typology. An event in the past is the type of a future event, which we call the anti-type. One of the types the Bible gives us is an idolatry that was imposed on all people in Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar when he had set up a golden statue of himself that everyone had to kneel down to worship. Worship should start the moment the music startet.
We read in Daniel 3,1-7: Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height [was] threescore cubits, [and] the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up. Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages, [That] at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up. And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down [and] worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.
That music will be used for seduction in the end times is therefore no surprise. We see that music has played an important part in idolatry in ancient times, both monotonous music as well as ecstatic music, and often in connection with sexual rituals. In our time, there are more and more of certain types of music that penetrate the churches. Unfortunately also at SDA. It is mainly repetitive music and all kinds of rock and modern music we are talking about. This type of music also belongs to the occult and should have been banned in the Christian church and congregations. But unfortunately many of the erroneous perception is that music is not dangerous, as long as you find some words that can be linked to God, it must be a ‘Christian‘ song.
Some music is very repetitive. Examples include minimalist music, kraut rock, (inspired by psychedelic music) disco (jumped out of nightclubs, and lays the lead for a certain style of dress) which has later changed to include house music (characterized by simple, repetitive drum tracks). Other important genres that are repetitive are post rock, ambien / dark ambien and black metal, rap, and many more.
If you visit some charismatic churches, you might mistakenly think that you are at a rock concert, and you can hear most of the mentioned musical forms. Much of this music is directly harmful, and originates from ancient African tribal religions, and some of this music is used today in voodoo. There are noise levels there that are beyond reasonable. It is waved with arms and it is shouted and screamed in ecstasy. Then it is this repetitive music that repeats the same rhythm and the same words over and over and over again … … This helps to break down the spiritual defence we have, and we become easy prey for him who is behind all the seduction and misery in the world. By breaking down the defences, we become easier to influence with subtle messages given throughout the text.
It is a well-known technique used in both music and film, and it is by frequent repetitions to add a word or two to a song, or to post a picture in the movie of something the producers want you to be influenced by, to do, buy, or what is the motive behind this. When your spiritual immune system is broken down, you will be affected by the subtle messages you receive without being aware of it, and when you see or hear this later, you will respond positively.
Over 100 years ago, Ellen G. White stated the following: “Every uncouth thing will be demonstrated. There will be shouting, with drums, music, and dancing. The senses of rational beings will become so confused that they cannot be trusted to make right decisions. A bedlam of noise shocks the senses and perverts that which if conducted aright might be a blessing. The powers of satanic agencies blend with the din and noise to have a carnival, and this is termed the Holy Spirit’s working…. Those things which have been in the past will be in the future. Satan will make music a snare by the way in which it is conducted.” Selected Messages 2:36, 38 (1900).
“Let us give no place to strange exercisings, which really take the mind away from the deep movings of the Holy Spirit. God’s work is ever characterized by calmness and dignity.” Selected Messages 2:42 (1908).
I am by no means opposed to music, but music and music are two different things. When we are in church to worship the Creator of the universe, we should show the Almighty reverence and sing hymns made to worship God. We must not sing songs that have nothing to do with a Christian way of life, songs that lie in the occult, songs that are repetitive, ecstatic and that lead to apostasy. We know that Satan will use all means to lead us to fall. That is why it is important to be awake and clear in our heads at all times, so that we are not seduced.
The deception is almost universal.
If we open the window to the world, we will see that humanity is about to commit all sin, injustice, and infidelity to God. This is a direct result of the turn the world has taken in recent decades, and this development will never end. Here I will only consider two of the greatest deceptions of our time.
One of the biggest deceptions.
In 1844, Charles Darwin began compiling his notes, which later became the book The Origin of Species. This book was written with over 800 cases of doubt and uncertainty. There can be as many as more than five cases of doubt on some pages. Darwin writes, among others. I think, I believe, we can assume, dare not argue positively, if my theory is correct, and many similar words and expressions. The Neo-Darwinists, on the other hand, have changed these doubts in the recent translations, and have removed all examples that show doubt in Darwin. As if that is not enough, only the theory of evolution is taught in everything by schools, from preschool / primary school to university. To teach that there is a different view of reality than the Darwinian is forbidden. It is simply not accepted.
Explaining the universe so that it was a singularity, a tiny dot that was perhaps as small as an atomic nucleus, which got the light idea to explode and then shape the universe, is quite incredible in itself. Imagine that a point so small that there would be room for dozens of equally small points at the tip of a pin would have given rise to the universe we can see today. It is estimated that there are over 100 billion galaxies. In the Milky Way, there are an estimated 300 billion stars, and in the whole universe it is believed that there are at least 70 sextillion stars, or 230 billion times the number in the Milky Way which is 300 billion. In addition, there is a huge number of planets and moons and other smaller celestial bodies. Maybe there can be three, four times as many other objects out there in addition to all the stars.
However, it does not stop there. Evolutionists further claim that when planets and the solar system began to form, life arose by chance from dead matter. The probability that life can arise by itself is so small that it does not really exist. The probability is calculated to be 1 in 10 raised to the 80th power. This number 10 in the 80th power is so large that it contains all the particles in the whole universe. As known, an atomic nucleus contains several particles. To believe in the Big Bang theory and the Evolution theory, much more faith is needed than the one I have. The probability that a storm at a scrap dealer will produce a ready-to-start jumbo jet is countless times greater than that the universe started with an explosion of nothing, which later got the idea to give rise to life from dead material. I have to admit that there is a great difference between an evolutionist and me. I know that I believe, but an evolutionist believe that he know.
This is one of the devil’s greatest deceptions, and it penetrates with the speed of light into churches around the world. Yes, God created, they say, by initiating the process billions of years ago, and since then evolution has moved on by mutating good cells. Do you know that the cancer cell is a cell that has mutated? I am just asking.
The intolerant tolerance.
Another area where Satan has really had success is in the sexual confusion we are experiencing today. Homosexuality is not something new it has been with people for thousands of years. Judas writes in his letter, verse 7, this. Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Before I go any further, I must state that all people must be allowed to choose how they want to live their lives. Nevertheless, they should also be told that the life they live is not in harmony with God’s word, even though servile priests around the world seem to believe it is.
Fornication and strange flesh must be understood as meaning that men leaving the natural use of the woman and women leaving the natural lust of their husbands. This happened in the cities of Sodom, Gomorrah and their sister cities. We still have two words that are used regularly around the world to describe what happened in and around Sodom: Sodomy, which describes the sexual perversity that took place there, and Sodomite, which describes the people who perpetrated these sexual perversions. This is what Paul has in mind when he writes the following in Romans chapter 1 and verses 26 and 27. For this cause, God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
In large parts of the world, it is forbidden to say anything derogatory about this, and recently (autumn 2021) Norway’s Foreign Minister was terribly indignant on behalf of LGBTIQ, and attacked Hungary because they have a more balanced view of this case than the servile somewhat politicians we have in large parts of the western world. A well known Norwegian football coach was almost put on a pedestal when he claimed that football should not propagate LGBTIQ. He had to crawl to the cross and retract what he had said. Today, a law has been introduced in Hungary that prohibits the promotion of this confusion to children, which has aroused strong indignation in the so-called ‘civilized‘ world. Imagine something so outrageous to refuse young children in Hungary to hear that it is not certain that a boy is a boy just because he has a penis! He might as well call himself a girl. Then we can ask LGBTIQ and the gay lobby if it’s okay to preach the word of God in kindergarten and in school. The answer will be that Christianity belongs within the four walls of the home, and hardly enough there. It is probably precisely, where they want Christianity to be placed that the individual’s sexuality belongs – within the four walls of the home. There are frightening opinions which are carried to the marketplace by this strange group.
We who stand on the word of God who tell us that God created man and woman, we are branded as homophobic, and are threatened to be reported to the police and with trials if we say something unfavourable about this group of people. These are lawsuits that are decided in advance, because what we are accused of doing is classified as hate speech, and hate speech is forbidden and should be discouraged. Hate speech has even been classified as terrorism by the pope himself, think about that!
But to the word tolerance. We are still told that we must show tolerance. We are told that gays have the same rights as everyone else. However, none of us who stand on the word of God denies that this is the case, or who will take from this group the obvious rights of all human beings. The problem is the opposite way; we are not intolerant, not at all. We must tolerate that they do this and that. We must tolerate that they marry in the church. We must tolerate same-sex couples adopting children, or using donors. We must tolerate all that this group demands to do. Everything that this marginal group demands must be complied. We must even tolerate that this small group of LGBTIQ and their supporters can harass us in the worst way without being criticized.
But when we who stand on the word of God dare to go out and say something ‘unfavourable‘ about LGBTIQ, well then it is hate speech we are doing, then we are homophobic and what is worse. There is only one word that covers what we experience today, and that is dictatorship of meaning. Of course, it is claimed that everyone has the right to mean and express what they want, but if it is not politically correct, it will be defeated, and this is exactly what dictatorship of meaning is.
One of the arguments used to defend their views and demands is that we live in 2022, (or any other year), as if this means something. In this argument, it is implied that we are so civilized that we must now tolerate and accept everything that comes from that edge. Nevertheless, if such an argument is to have any validity, it must also be possible to use it the other way around. Since we are then living in 2022, and implicitly are as civilized and highly educated as we are, the content of the Bible must be accepted and tolerated by all people. Right? Same argument. Then this group must accept that there is another side to the matter, something they will not accept neither in life nor in death. They simply cannot tolerate to hear that there is another view on this.
But this is exactly where the intolerant tolerance comes into the picture. Today, being tolerant is just a one-way exercise that LGBTIQ, its supporters, and politically correct society have the right to define, exercise, and decide. It is only their opponents who have to tolerate everything. They themselves should certainly not be tolerant and tolerate anything. All those who do not follow what is politically correct, that is, all those who do not take active care and follow the gay lobby, must be gagged and silenced with the law. But then tolerance is no longer an exercise that applies to the whole society, only the small group that stands on the safe ground of God’s word, while those who constantly shout about tolerance are the least tolerant and who turn out not to be in possession of tolerance.
In Selected Messages 3: 389 (1889), says Ellen G. White: There is now need of earnest, working men and women who will seek for the salvation of souls, for Satan as a powerful general has taken the field, and in this last remnant of time he is working through all conceivable methods to close the door against light that God would have come to His people. He is sweeping the whole world into his ranks, and the few who are faithful to God’s requirements are the only ones who can ever withstand him, and even these he is trying to overcome. Selected Messages 3:389 (1889).
They pretend to be the deceased.
In all times, people have searched for answers from dead people. We know from Bible history that King Saul sought out a wizard to persuade her to conjure up the late prophet Samuel (1 Samuel 28,6-21). Today, this spiritualism is being pursued with greater force than ever before, and millions of people are seeking daily answers to their questions from the dead. The question is whether it is the dead who manifest themselves and answer the questions they have.
In Leviticus we find these two verses. Leviticus 19,31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I [am] the LORD your God. Leviticus 20,6 And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
As we see, God describes those who have familiar spirits or seek after wizards for unclean, and He will cut them off from among His people (if they do not repent). Is the soul still alive after the body is dead? Does man have a soul, or is man a soul? We must answer these important questions before we move on.
The state of the dead.
In the last two or three centuries before the birth of Jesus, the Jews had close ties with the Persians and Greeks. These had, as we know developed a view of the dead and their world. In Persia it was learned that the soul, after waiting in the earth for three days, had to cross a bridge to get to ‘paradise‘, and the more sins the dead had committed the more shake the bridge, and the one who crossed the bridge fell into hell to be cleansed. In Greece, it was learned that the soul was immortal. Plato developed this doctrine.
In Greek mythology, Styx is both a deity and a river, that forms the boundary between the earth and the underworld. The rivers Acheron, Cocytus, Lethe, Phlegethon and Styx all converge to one unit in the middle of the underworld on a large marsh, which sometimes also is called Styx. According to Herodotus, the river Styx originates near Feneos. When the Greeks died, they were buried with one or two coins, placed upon their eyes. This was done to give the dead money to pay the ferry man to bring them over to the other side of the river Styx. If not, the soul would wander restlessly around for all eternity.
In the time of Jesus, the Jews had adopted these teachings from Persia and Greece which say that the soul is immortal and that the soul is punished after death according to what the individual had committed of sins while he was alive. This idea developed by Plato still has many followers today. Jesus tried to correct this view but it was mostly only his disciples who ‘corrected‘ their view of this according to what Jesus said.
These three short passages form the basis of the common but erroneous notion that man has an immortal soul. The theory that man is immortal is as old as humanity itself. In the Garden of Eden, the fateful day when men fell into sin, the serpent (Satan) claimed the following: And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die, Genesis 3,4.
Does the soul live after the body is dead?
Ecclesiastes 9,5-6 says. For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not anything, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any [thing] that is done under the sun.
Isaiah 26,14 says. [They are] dead, they shall not live; [they are] deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.
Job 7,9 says. [As] the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no [more].
Here we have three of many verses that deal with the condition of the dead, and all the verses agree that when man dies it is over. Man will not return in any way until Jesus Christ has finished the investigative judgment and has returned to redeem His faithful people. Then the dead in Christ will be resurrected, while the wicked will still be dead for another thousand years before they receive their final judgment. Then they will be resurrected to receive the judgment – eternal death. But before the first resurrection, there are no dead who come to life, and there are no souls who live after man has died.
Does man have a soul, or is man a soul?
Ecclesiastes 12,7 says. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
Genesis 2,7 tells us how man came to be. And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
As we see, the human body was just lifeless dust, neither more nor less when God had formed man. When He had formed man, He blew the breath of life into His nostrils and this made man alive, or as it says: and man became a living soul. When man dies, the same thing happens only in reverse order. The spirit of life that God blew into man’s nose goes back to God who gave it, and then there is only dust left of man and it disappears
But there would have been no seduction if the devil and his evil angel had not used their deceptions to lead people away from God, and make them believe in this nonsense that the human soul lives after the body is dead. This is not the thing Satan fails to use to accomplish his purpose, and he has studied every single human being who has lived, and he can make his fallen angels present themselves as dead people. Ellen G. White says i Evangelism, 604 (1875). It is not difficult for the evil angels to represent both saints and sinners who have died, and make these representations visible to human eyes. These manifestations will be more frequent, and developments of a more startling character will appear as we near the close of time.
In The Signs of the Times, August 26, 1889 she says. It is Satan’s most successful and fascinating delusion—one calculated to take hold of the sympathies of those who have laid their loved ones in the grave. Evil angels come in the form of those loved ones and relate incidents connected with their lives, and perform acts which they performed while living. In this way they lead persons to believe that their dead friends are angels, hovering over them and communicating with them. These evil angels, who assume to be the deceased friends, are regarded with a certain idolatry, and with many, their word has greater weight than the Word of God.
In The Great Controversy, 552, 560 (1911) she writes. He [Satan] has power to bring before men the appearance of their departed friends. The counterfeit is perfect; the familiar look, the words, the tone, are reproduced with marvellous distinctness. Many will be confronted by the spirits of devils, personating beloved relatives or friends and declaring the most dangerous heresies. These visitants will appeal to our tenderest sympathies and will work miracles to sustain their pretensions.
And, in The Upward Look, 317 (1905) she says this. The forms of the dead will appear, through the cunning device of Satan, and many will link up with the one who liveth and maketh a lie. I warn our people that right among us some will turn away from the faith and give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, and by them the truth will be evil spoken of. A marvellous work shall take place. Ministers, lawyers, doctors, who have permitted these falsehoods to overmaster their spirit of discernment, will be themselves deceivers, united with the deceived. A spiritual drunkenness will take possession of them.
